Welcome to Saint Luke Catholic Chaplaincy, UCH.

Your spiritual companion in your professional journey.

If you’re at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, for work, we invite you to make Saint Luke Catholic Chaplaincy, UCH your spiritual home. Whether you’re a healthcare professional, administrative staff, or involved in any other capacity, we are here to support you as you balance your work responsibilities with your faith.

How We Support Professionals:

  • Daily and Sunday Masses:
Start your day or week with the Eucharist, strengthening your connection with Christ.

  • Sacraments and Prayer:
Receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion, or Anointing of the Sick. You can also request personal prayers or intercessions.

  • Spiritual Guidance:
Our chaplain is available for pastoral counseling to help navigate work challenges, stress, or spiritual questions.

  • Faith Community:
Connect with other Catholic professionals through prayer groups, retreats, and special events designed to deepen your faith and foster fellowship.

  • Ethical Guidance in Healthcare:
Receive support in addressing moral and ethical dilemmas in your professional practice, guided by Catholic teachings.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” (Colossians 3:23)

Balancing Faith and Work:

  1. Dedicate time for daily prayer, even during a busy schedule.
  2. Make Sunday Mass a priority—it provides the grace and strength you need for the week.
  3. Offer your work as a form of worship, seeking to serve Christ through your vocation.
  4. Join a community of like-minded professionals to encourage and inspire one another.

We have Three (3) Work Guilds. These are:
1. The Guild of Catholic Nurses – Meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of every month after the 9:00 am Community Sunday Mass.
2. The Guild of Catholic Physicians: Meetings every 2nd Tuesday of every month after the 9:00 am Community Sunday Mass.
3. Guild of Health Workers (all health workers guild cancel their statutory meetings to join this): Meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of every quarter March, June, September and December.

These guilds discuss matters of ethics and professionalism in the context of the Christian faith.
We welcome membership from students who will be future nurses, doctors, and health workers.
We also welcome anyone who would like to know more about Christian professionalism in the health sector.
